Very Reverend Father Constantine Lentakis
The Very Reverend Father Constantine Lentakis was born in Port Said, Egypt on 7 January 1935. After moving to Suez Town he became an accomplished chanter at the age of six. After completing High School he met and married Helen Macris on 23 August 1958. Father Constantine and Presvytera Eleni moved to Perth, Australia in March 1961 where Father worked as an electrician for the Railways. In April 1970 the family migrated to New Zealand where Father was ordained deacon and then priest by Metropolitan Dionysios. He was stationed in Christchurch and served the Parish of the Dormition of the Theotokos in St Albans. In 1977 Father was awarded an O.B.E. by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his service to the Greek Community in Christchurch. In 1978 His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos invited Father and his family to Australia and he took up residence in Brisbane in 1980 serving the Parish & Community of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Mt Gravatt. After the passing of Reverend Father Isidoros Sideris in 1989, Father Constantine continued to serve the needs of the faithful on Brisbane’s Southside. Sadly Presvytera Eleni passed away at the end of 2018. Father Constantine and Presvytera Eleni have four children and eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Reverend Father Nicholas Brown
Reverend Father Nicholas Brown was born in Wanganui New Zealand on 6 December 1972. After migrating to Australia with his family in 1975, Father completed his schooling in Brisbane. Having been introduced to a local Greek family, Father found his home in the Orthodox Church from the age of eight. He was officially received into the Church on 6 December 1987. In February of 1994 Father Nicholas commenced his theological studies at St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College, Sydney and graduated with a Bachelor of Theology from St Andrew’s and the Sydney College of Divinity in 1999. Father relocated to Brisbane and commenced work in St Nicholas Nursing Home, the Greek Welfare Centre, and teaching Religious Education in State Schools and Greek in the various afternoon schools of the local Parishes. In February 2001, Father commenced a position as Parish Ministries Coordinator at the Greek Orthodox Parish & Community of the Dormition of the Theotokos, Mt Gravatt. It was here that he met the future Presvytera Maria and the two were married 10 September 2006. Father Nicholas was ordained as a deacon by His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos on 15 October 2006, and subsequently ordained to the priesthood on 27 January 2007. He is assistant priest at the Dormition of the Theotokos and together with his father-in-law Fr Constantine he serves the needs of the faithful on Brisbane’s Southside. Father Nicholas and Presvytera Maria have three boys.
